Resident Railways Tickets Available

The Department of Tourism and Leisure is pleased to announce the availability of Resident tickets for the 2010 season.

These tickets offer residents unlimited travel on all scheduled services for the full season, on the Island’s Steam, Electric and Snaefell Railways. They are valid from the 13th March to the 7th November. Adult tickets cost £50 and children’s tickets cost £25 (ages 5-15).

Application forms can be obtained from the Isle of Man Welcome Centre and main stations. The Welcome Centre at the Sea Terminal is open Monday to Saturday 8.00am-6.00pm. A passport sized photo will be required for each applicant.

Hon Martyn Quayle, MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure commented:

‘Travelling by rail provides an excellent, unique way to explore some of the Island’s attractive towns and villages, whilst witnessing magnificent views of sea and countryside.’

A resident ticket not only offers unlimited rail travel across the Island, it is also a ticket to experience a working part of Manx Heritage.

• Steam Railway Open from 13th March until 7th November 2010

• Manx Electric Railway Open from 20th March until 7th November 2010

• Snaefell Mountain Railway Open from 24th April until 3rd October 2010

Tickets can be purchased from Friday 12th March and for further information visit www.iombusandrail.info

Residents should also be aware that tickets for the forthcoming Will Young concert are due to go on sale this Saturday and there could be considerable queues at the Welcome Centre.
