7th September 2010 Routes to school affected by building workPARENTS of pupils at Ballasalla Primary School are reminded to exercise caution at the start of term due to the ongoing redevelopment of the Clagh Vane estate.
The contractors are working hard to minimise disruption to those accessing the school on foot and by vehicle, headteacher Lyn Ashworth said.
By Wednesday parking will be reinstated in Cobbold Place following work there. However, contractors’ vehicles might still be present in the turning circle by the main school gates, meaning parking could be disrupted.
In addition, some pavements are temporarily re-routed to avoid works. The footpath leading from the Abbotswood estate, passing the back of Barrule Drive/Quine’s Close, is now open again but caution is needed as surface dressing is still taking place.
Mrs Ashworth praised the contractors, saying: ‘They have worked hard and liaised closely with us to ensure access to the school is available so that school can open as scheduled at 9am on Wednesday.’
The work at Clagh Vane is part of a major ongoing investment by the Department of Social Care to improve the environment of the estate and the Department appreciates the patience and understanding of parents and residents alike while this work is being undertaken.
